First, thank you so much, dear reader, for giving me your time in this time-crunched world. I promise to use it as wisely and frugally as I can, while still being entertaining and down-to-earth; you may even find a censored swear word or two—oh my!

So, getting down to business:

The subject of this narrative is a fictional online platform called AI-Elfy. 

AI-Elfy is an online world where conversations are parsed and broken down into component pieces called goals, proposals, and assessments, all within a navigational framework of topic, place, and lens.

These allow the public to carry on an intelligent conversation, and, among other things, will result in better service by our elected officials.

I have tried to draw, diagram, and animate how this website would work, but the visuals I’m capable of making are not descriptive enough for what I’m trying to achieve. Therefore, we have this book, where I am trying to paint a picture of a virtual world in a narrative.

There are eight principal characters in this book, each serving to illustrate a different political bent or intellectual mindset that is viewing the problems of the story. 

The problems of the story happen at three main scales of political influence: the local, the state, and the national. At each scale, a different type of problem-solving through politics is demonstrated.

Part 2, which will begin at Chapter 9, after the eight characters have been introduced, will introduce the platform for the first time, AI-Elfy. At that point, the narrative will attempt to show what this website would look like.
